Pat Clark Star Volunteer Award 2024

Pat was always the life and soul of everything WSDCS did and truly put the children and young people at the heart of everything we did. Sadly, we lost Pat in 2022.  We miss her smile and her laugh and all the help, love and support she gave us as a charity.

We felt it was important to recognise Pat Clark and her incredible support by rebranding our volunteer award as the Pat Clark Star Volunteer Award. This award recognises the incredible support we receive to help us provide the services of WSDCS and ensure we help everyone who needs us.

We are delighted to announce that this year’s Pat Clark Star Award goes to Lucy Sultana, age 7.

Lucy has been an amazing support to WSDCS by volunteering to deliver deaf awareness sessions in schools and clubs all over.  This has been important in spreading the message of how to communicate more effectively with deaf children and adults.  We made posters of ‘Lucy’s Top Tips’ to use on social media and put up in schools.  Lucy has also taught some basic BSL to pupils and staff alike in primary and secondary schools.  Last year, Lucy took part in our annual Kiltwalk Fundraiser and raised an astonishing £500!

Well done, Lucy!
