Outreach Event – South Lanarkshire

WSDCS were delighted to organise and deliver our first Outreach Event for deaf children who are supported by Hamilton School for the Deaf.

This day was all about bringing deaf children together and having fun. We had over 30 children attend, some of whom had never been to a deaf event before.

We started our day with a Pop Up Art Workshop led by Jane. The children had the opportunity to move around the workshops and create their very own masterpieces! We then had two amazing deaf role models – Will Palmer and Kara Gillespie. The message was clear – be proud of your deaf identity and remember let nothing hold you back!

Our afternoon was led by the Scottish Deaf Football Manager, George McGowan. The children enjoyed moving around the stations and collecting points for their team. They were superstars and all deserved to be winners!

It was wonderful to see the children making lots of new friends. We hope this is the first of many Deaf Outreach Events led by WSDCS.
